The 2nd annual Virginia Collegiate Recovery Conference more than doubled in number of attendees from last year, including representatives from universities in Virginia, as well as many from North Carolina, Maryland, and DC. The two day event brought together faculty, addiction professionals, non-profits, and students to gather resources, network, and learn how to start or advance Collegiate Recovery Programs on their campuses.

Some highlights from the event: Keynote speaker Ivana Grahovac wowed the conference with her stories and experiences as the Executive Director of Transforming Youth Recovery, but also with her deeply powerful personal story. One of the greats of Collegiate Recovery and founder of the CRP at Rutgers University, Lisa Laitman, shared the perseverance it took for her to create the thriving program at Rutgers, as well as very informative data and tips for fledgling programs. After a day full of speakers and group discussions, attendees enjoyed a stand-up comedy performance by Jay Armstrong from Recovery Comedy.

We look forward to working with some of the wonderful people we met at the conference throughout the year as we all promote Collegiate Recovery in our areas!
