Dayton, OH cut overdose deaths in half

Dayton, Ohio is giving hope to cities around the country, as they had a 50 percent reduction in overdose deaths from 2017 to 2018. The six main strategies Dayton has used to significantly reduce the prevalence of overdose deaths are strategies that all cities can employ. The strategies include: providing harm reduction services, treating addiction as a disease, purposeful and rapid data collection, breaking down barriers and allowing coordinated efforts throughout community members/agencies/officials, combating the stigma of addiction, and creating a Community Overdose Action Team.
